Approximately approx 40 area neighborhood leaders, residents, and fire protection representatives met with Mr. McKee and associates concerning his proposed apartment development. The plan he presented provides for 432 apartment units consisting of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments which will rent for between $500.00 to $750.00 per unit monthly One bedroom apartments will make up 10% of the project, 70% should be two bedrooms, leaving 20% to be three bedrooms. (Using these numbers, 43.2 will be one bedrooms; 302.4 will be two bedrooms; 86.4 will be three bedrooms.)

The developer will be required to improve the portion of Blackman which runs with his property to a three lane level and contribute monies to flood control measures.

Changes In Our Leadership

It is appropriate that we take the time and space here to say "Thank You" to Ellen Nolte for serving as our coordinator. Her job required arranging meetings, keeping us informed of upcoming events, meetings, and many other duties, such as writing our newsletters, mailing notices and keeping us going. Ellen volunteered to take leadership of our association when it was decided that an ongoing relationship should be established between the various neighborhoods in our area. This commitment was made following a huge area-wide effort that was required to preserve the quality of life in our area. Due to the declining health of Ellen's parents and in-laws, Ellen's time and energy is required to give them much needed support. Ellen will remain a member of the 65809 Community Association and serve through committed attendance, also a much needed and appreciated service! Aleta Dyer began serving as the coordinator at midyear 2001.
